Acne is caused by a combination of factors including bacteria, inflammation, and excess oil production. IPL machines work by emitting intense pulses of light that penetrate the skin and target the bacteria responsible for acne, specifically Propionibacterium acnes. This bacterium is known to thrive in the sebaceous glands of the skin, which are responsible for producing the oil that can clog pores and lead to acne.
The light emitted by IPL machines is absorbed by the bacteria, which then produces heat and is destroyed. This process helps to eliminate the bacteria responsible for acne and reduce the number of breakouts on the skin.
Contraindications For Laser Hair Removal
- Active skin infections or inflammation, including cold sores, herpes simplex, impetigo, or cellulitis

- Recent use of self-tanning products or spray tans in the treatment area
- Skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis in the treatment area
- History of vitiligo, melasma, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Recent chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or other skin resurfacing treatments in the treatment area
- Uncontrolled diabetes or poor wound healing
- Tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area
